Secy YSS Ladakh inspects stadiums

Leh, Aug 8: Secretary Youth Services and Sport UT-Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar today inspected various stadiums to check the work progress under execution at these sites.
District Youth Services and Sport Officer, Tsering Tashi, DD Planning, Tsering Angdus, Ex-en R&B Ghulam Nabi, Zonal Youth and Services officer Abid Ali and others concerned officers were accompanied by the Secretary during the visit.
During the inspection of Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) multipurpose stadiums, the Secretary Sports enquired in detail about the indoor complex constructed under (USIS) and gave a timeline for early completion of remaining work. Construction progress of multipurpose playground, Gymnasium and Archery filed were also discuss at the spot in detail. He directed the concerned executing agency to submit the detailed project report. He further asked all the sport Associations to submit their suggestions to developed sport centre.
While visiting the Ice hockey rink at NDS stadium, the Secretary was informed that the cost of project would be increased due to expansion and adding of international standard facilities inside the rink and it will be completed at the cost of Rs 22 crore which includde both civil work, roofing and machineries. The executive engineer requested to release more funds for it.
Secretary Sport directed the concerned Executive Engineers to mature the tender process and early commencement of roofing and other remaining works with a target to finish in next three months.
While taking stock of progress on several works being executed in the NDS stadium, Secretary Sport directed the concerned executing agency to accelerate the pace of work by further adding to the existing manpower and machinery so that all works get completed in time.
Secretary along with other concerned officers also visited the open stadium Spituk to assess the status of works.
The executing agency apprised the Secretary about the facility and architectural design of the stadium. Secretary was further informed that nearly Rs. 10 crore was sanctioned under SDP for construction of youth hostels and other remaining works.
