Sehwag, sports fraternity offer financial support to Pulwama martyrs’ families

NEW DELHI: In a touching gesture, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag on Saturday said that he will take care of the education of the children of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans martyred in the Pulwama attack.
While expressing his condolences to the families of the soldiers who were killed in a fidayeen attack in Pulwama, south Kashmir on February 14, Sehwag tweeted, ”Nothing we can do will be enough, but the least I can do is offer to take complete care of the education of the children of our brave CRPF jawans martyred in #Pulwama in my Sehwag International School @SehwagSchool, Jhajjar. Saubhagya hoga”.
Earlier on Friday, Sehwag criticised the cowardly attack and tweeted, ”Really pained by the cowardly attack on our CRPF in J&K in which our brave men have been martyred. No words are enough to describe the pain. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured”.
After the tragic incident, many other sportspersons have also offered help to the families of martyred jawans.
Star boxer Vijender Singh who is employed with Haryana Police is donating his one month’s salary.
The Olympic medallist on Friday tweeted, “I’m donating my one month’s salary for the martyrs of #PulwamaTerrorAttack and want everyone to come forward and support the families. It is our moral duty to always standby them and make them feel proud of their sacrifices. Jai Hind “.
Along with individual support, Irani Trophy winners Vidarbha cricket team also offered their support.
Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal said that the team will donate the prize money they are getting from their Irani Trophy win.
“We as a team have decided to dedicate that money to the families of those who lost their lives. (It is) a small gesture from the team and the VCA,” said Fazal. (AGENCIES)
