POONCH, Jan 16: The people of village Seklu in tehsil Mandi today held protest against PDD Department as the authorities have failed to replace damaged transformer and restore electricity supply even after two months.
The villagers from Panchayat Seklu came out on the village road during the day today. The villagers led by Mohd Latief, Mohd Rustam, Shamim Ahmed and others held strong protest and disrupted the movement of vehicles in the area. They were shouting slogans against the PDD authorities.
The villagers alleged that the PDD field staff of the area was requested several times, but they failed to restore power supply. The electric transformer could not be replaced but they were continuously receiving hefty power bills which is mockery of the system.
They demanded intervention of XEn PDD Poonch into the matter, seeking early restoration of power supply. They warned to conduct ‘gherao’ of PDD office at Mandi if the power supply was not restored within three days.
