Selection of cricket players

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘JKCA completes drama’ of picking probables without holding trial matches’ DE Sept 2.
One wonders how J&K Cricket players could perform well on national level if selection process is not upto the mark. Besides selecting players without making them play matches is a matter of concern. If selectors do not follow a set criteria, it is certainly going to harm the game in the future. If nepotism and favouritism are on display, then what is the role of selectors. Besides, it will hit the morale of sincere players who can not be picked to  participate in tournament. Cricket in Jammu and Kashmir has always courted controversy. Regional bias, monetary benefits, lack of  playgrounds, financial irregularities have bedeviled the game since  its beginning. This is why we have not produced good  players so far in the State who can compete at national and international levels.
Yours etc…..
