JAMMU, Feb 2: Medical fitness is only for eligibility but selection for any post in BSF/CISF or any other security force is made on the basis of merit in written test. There is no scope for any undue favour to any candidate.
This was stated today by highly placed Government sources while reacting to the yesterday’s protest at Jammu by BSF/CISF aspirants who had alleged that they had passed all medical and physical tests but despite that they were not selected.
Hundreds of BSF and CISF aspirants yesterday staged a vociferous protest in support, demanding jobs letters in BSF/CISF. The protesting youth said, when the notification for the recruitment of 1,356 constables in BSF and CISF was issued in 2018, lakhs of aspirants from J&K had applied for the posts. Amid this, the demand for increase in number of posts was raised. However, in February 2021, the final list of the selected candidates was rolled out for 1,356 candidates. They said since then the remaining aspirants, who had cleared all medical fitness and physical test, are struggling for their right for job.
Highly placed government sources, when contacted, stated that there is no way by which these protesting candidates can be given a BSF or CISF job because they have failed in the written test. Medical fitness is only for eligibility, but selection is made only on the basis of merit in written test. Even if number of posts is increased, there will be again written test, they added.
“After J&K became UT, the Central rule abolishing interview has been implemented and now written test is the only criterion for selection so that there is no scope for undue favour to any candidate,” sources asserted.
