SAMBA, Sept 12: Semi-naked villagers staged strong protest demonstration against the PDD authorities and increasing interference of local NC Minister in Samba administration, outside PDD office at Vijaypur today.
The villagers from Kirpalpur, including a large number of youth thronged the PDD office at Vijaypur and urged the authorities concerned to install a transformer which can bear the load of the area and provide better service to the people. They pointed out that in last two months the transformers got damaged at least 4-5 times. They said the power load was high and instead of 100 MV, 250 MV transformer be installed there. These villagers are facing hardships due to non-supply of electricity in the area for the last several days.
The concerned PDD staff refused to entertain the villagers, telling that they will execute work as per the directions from the local NC minister. On this the villagers got agitated and took out their shirts and sat on protest dharna. They shouted slogans against the NC minister and the PDD staff. They warned that if the power supply was not restored within two days, they will lock the PDD office.
