RAJOURI, Mar 27: The inaugural function of the UGC sponsored national seminar on `Emerging Trends in Data Sciences & Artificial Intelligence’ was held at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Campus, Rajouri.
The seminar was organized by the Department of Information Technology in association with University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri, was the chief guest of the function and Prof Muhammad Abulaish, Department of Computer Science, South Asian University (An International University established by SAARC), New Delhi, presented keynote address on Data Analytics and mining: Recent Advancements and Challenges.
Prof Abulaish in his keynote address, enlightened the audience with the vast potential of data science and how artificial intelligence can be used to manage and use this huge volume of data in an efficient manner.
In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor highlighted the role of data sciences in near and coming future and took this occasion to announce upgradation of all the existing class rooms and research infrastructure of the varsity. He emphasized the need for such academic events on frequent basis so as to engage the experts from various universities and research organizations with the teachers, scholars and students of various departments and centres of the University.
Prof Mohammed Asger, Dean, Mathematical & Computer Sciences, informed that the seminar was being attended by around eighty participants from all over the country.
Dr Tasleem Arif, HoD, Information Technology and Organizing Secretary of the seminar, highlighted the purpose of seminar.
Majid Bashir Malik, Assistant Professor, Computer Sciences, conducted proceedings of the function whereas ED Gowhar presented vote of thanks.
On this occasion, various dignitaries, including Prof Viond Sharma, HOD, Computer Science & IT, JU; Prof Vishal Goyal, Punjabi University ; Prof S K Gupta, Dean, Management, BGSBU; Col K K Dogra and others were present.
