JAMMU, Sept 29: Apex Body of SPARSH (ABS), Cluster University of Jammu, in collaboration with the office of Dean Students Welfare (DSW) and the guidance of Chairperson of ABS, Dr Vandana Khajuria, organized one day seminar on the theme “Gender Equal Society: Issues and Perspectives” in SPMR College of Commerce.
The chief patron of the occasion, Prof Bechan Lal- Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, addressed the audience and spoke about relevance of the topic in present time. Also, he lauded effort of the ABS in sensitizing the students and faculty of the constituent colleges and schools by organizing such programs.
The resource persons of the event were renowned academician Dr Poonam Dhawan, former Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University of Jammu and Snigdha Bakshi, Advocate and social worker.
Dr Poonam Dhawan emphasized on “Gender Positive Initiative in Higher Education”. She focused that the world should believe in gender equality as well as equity. She encouraged young students of the university to believe in philosophy “Live and Let Live”.
Advocate Snigdha Bakshi threw light on the various legal perspective of gender rights and made students and faculties aware about the legal rights in context with gender discrimination.
Earlier, Chairperson of ABS, Dr Vandana Khajuria introduced the audience to the objective and purpose of Sensitization, Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment (SPARSH).
The programe was attended by Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu; Dean Academic Affairs, Dr Naveen Anand; Deans and Principals of constituent schools and colleges, faculties and students of the university.
The formal vote of thank was presented by Assistant Professor Dr Neetu Kumari, Member Secretary ABS.
