JAMMU, Dec 27: Department of Agriculture Reasi organized one day seminar on doubling farmers’ income.
The function was inaugurated by chief guest H.K Razdan, Director Agriculture Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest highlighted the measures being undertaken by the department to address the problems of the farmers.
He suggested the zonalization of the farm activity so that the programs and plans on farm activity are made area specific.
He sought cooperation of huge technical work force available with the department who could play an important role.
Razdan also stressed on integrated farming system to improve farm income and reduce the risk of production loss to farmer on account of weather and other related issues.
District Development Commissioner Reasi said that about 60-65 per cent farmers are still dependent on agriculture as a source of their livelihood.
He stressed upon agro economic activities involving direct access of the farmer to the market based economy.
