LEH, June 4: Under the guidance of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, NWR, Chandigarh, Parneet Singh Sachdev, a seminar on TDS provisions was held here today at DC office by TDS Wing of Income Tax Office, Srinagar.
The seminar was held for Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Leh UT as well as with Accounts Officers.
District Panchayat Officer Leh, Sarwar Shahzad and Block Development Officer Leh, Tsering Wangchok were also present in the seminar and appreciated the efforts of Income Tax Department in organizing such a seminar in Leh.
About 55 representatives were present on the occasion.
Various TDS provisions were discussed regarding TDS deducted and deposited by the DDOs under 14FC and Back to Village programmes.
Various sections incorporated in Income Tax Act, 1961 were also discussed like 194M, 194N and 194Q.
The DDOs were informed about the eligibility for claiming exemption U/S 10(26A) and they raised many queries regarding how to apply for no deduction of tax certificate and how to allot TAN.
They were informed accordingly and the seminar concluded by vote of thanks by BDO Leh.
