JAMMU, May 5: Approxi-mately 1000 persons die in road accidents in a year in J&K alone. This information was given in a seminar cum interactive session organized by Road Safety Champions at Shining Star, High School Muthi near here, today.
The main focus of the seminar was to make students aware regarding the road safety measures to be adopted during driving. A stage drama on road safety was also performed by the students on the occasion.
Ravinder Kumar Bhat Founder Road Safety Champions in his speech focused on certain road safety measures to be strictly followed while driving the vehicles. He also made audience aware about the deaths caused due to road accidents every year. He said 13.5 lakh people die in a year in the world and around 1.5 lakh deaths are recorded in India in a year.
Bhat also highlighted the role of parents and teachers in making the society accident free. Principal of the School, Mrs Rachana Goswami read the welcome address. Bhat distributed certificates and T-shirts among the students who contested in the debate on road safety measures. He also awarded a certificate of Appreciation to Mrs Goswami on the occasion.
