Seminar on ‘Quality Improvement in Teacher Education through ICT’ held at MIER

JAMMU, Nov 15: A NAAC sponsored seminar on “Quality Improvement in Teacher Education through ICT” was organized by MIER College of Education.
Prof Lokesh Verma, Former Dean and Head Department of Education, University of Jammu inaugurated the seminar which was attended by educationists, researcher scholars, faculty and students from more than 30 colleges and 7 Universities of the J&K and neighbouring states.
Educationist and Chairman MIER Group of Institutions Dr Arun K Gupta presented the welcome address.
Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER dwelt upon the theme of the seminar which comprised of eight sessions divided into plenary sessions and parallel technical sessions.
Prof Anita Rastogi, Chairperson, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia University New Delhi in her keynote address stressed upon the need to incorporate technological advancements into the teaching learning process which is sure to bring qualitative improvements in education.
Prof Lokesh Verma, in his presidential remarks, said that in the modern world, Information and Communications Technology has made inroads into every aspect of our life and it is essential for teacher educators to prepare their trainees to accept the challenges of ICT savvy generation.
More than 50 papers were presented during the sessions which dealt with various themes namely, ‘Role of ICT in Improving Teaching Learning and Evaluation’, ‘Strengthening Research and Extension Through ICT’, ‘Innovations and Best Practices in ICT Usage for Teacher Education’, ‘P1360 Analytics in Higher Education through ICT’, ‘Strengthening Governance’, Leadership and Management Through Use of  ICT.
Prof Amarendra Behera, Head Central Institute of Educational Technology, NCERT, New Delhi, Prof SC Bhadwal Department of Education HP University, Shimla, Dr Amit Kauts, Dean, Faculty of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Prof Ankur Gupta, CSE Department, Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu and Prof AG Madosh, Former Head and Dean Department of Education, Kashmir University presented the keynote addresses whereas Dr Deepa Sikand, Associate Prof, MGN College, Jalandhar; Prof Rajiv Rattan, PG Dept of Education, University of Jammu, Prof NR Sharma, Dean and Incharge, School of Education, Central University, Jammu, Dr Adit Gupta and Dr Mool Raj Sharma, MIER chaired the sessions. Each session was followed by discussion in which the delegates participated keenly.
Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER presented the formal vote of thanks on the inaugural.
Meanwhile, the seminar ended with a valedictory session. The chief guest of the valedictory session was Prof Mubarak Singh, Dean and Head, Department of Education, University of Jammu. The guest of honour was Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman, MIER.
Anjela Gadroo, Assistant Prof and QAO, MIER presented the formal vote of thanks.
The progamme was ably compered by Dr Annie Kaul, HoD BEd and Komal Sharma, Asstt, MIER.
