ANANTNAG, May 19: Continuing with his election campaign PDP general secretary (Organization), Dr. Mehboob Beg addressed various workers meetings at Anantnag. Dr. Beg appealed and underlined the need to send a forceful voice from Kashmir to the Parliament. Dr. Beg said that given the juncture where the people of Kashmir stand today, there has never been a bigger need to send a forceful, impactful and indomitable voice to the Parliament and that there could be no better option than Mehbooba Mufti.
During series of meetings Beg referred to manipulation of 1987 elections which pushed Kashmiri to the wall and resulted in gun culture – causing loss of thousands of human lives. Pointing out the fatal impact of making any attempts to tamper with the voice of the people, Beg also averred that the 1987 events resulted in a common Kashmiri losing faith in the ballot and that the same led to a reign littered with violence. Dr. Mehboob Beg further asked for setting up of an independent commission to probe into the irregularities committed in the election process.
