JAMMU, Jan 10: To publicly acknowledge the selfless contribution of individuals in development and promotion of the art of theatre in Jammu and Kashmir during last fifty years, Bhoorang Foundation, Jammu, felicitated three senior artistes at the K L Saigal hall, here today.
The three personalities who were honoured on the occasion included Janak Khajuria from Jammu, Omkar Khazanchi and Farooq Sheikh from Kashmir.
Today’s function started with Makhan Lal Saraf introducing the activities of the Bhoorang Foundation which was formed after migration to provide a platform to Kashmir language theatre in Jammu. The citations read by Ayash Arif, Mohan Singh and Makhan Lal Saraf, praised versatility of chosen artistes in the field of acting and contribution in theatre, television and films. The artistes also shared their journey of theatre with the audience.
In the presidium were present V K Sambyal, Station Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu, Shabir Mujahid, former Director, Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, Padmashree and veteran dramatist and playwright Moti Lal Kemmu, retired Sessions Judge B L Saraf and P K Munshi, chief patron of Bhoorang.
The function concluded by a musical program composed by Pandit Krishan Langoo, who has immensely contributed in amateur theatre movement in Kashmiri. The function was anchored by Kusum Tikku and co-ordinated by Bansi Matoo and Shadi Lal Koul.
