UDHAMPUR, Jan 24: In order to reach the senior citizens and the civil society across the District, Senior Citizens Club Udhampur has established its fourth branch in Ghordi Block of Tehsil Ramnagar.
Three earlier branches of the Club are at Ramnagar, Chenani and Dudu- Basantgarh.
A mega event in connection with establishment of new branch, was held at Ghordi in which a number of senior citizens, civil society members as well as people living in poor conditions, participated.
The new unit comprises of Des Raj Prasher (Retd Headmaster) as patron-in-chief, Hari Ram Sharma as chairman, Satpaul Sharma (Retd XEn) as president, Subash Chander (Retd SO) as Gen Secretary, Des Raj Sanmotra (Retd CHO), Bharat Bushan (Sarpanch), Bhim Singh Thakur, Varinder Verma, Hans Raj Sharma, Rattan Chand and Dhian Chand (Retd Prof) as Vice Presidents.
Apart from members of executive body, an advisory board was also constituted that includes Dwarka Nath Sharma, Om Parkash Gupta, Prem Nath Tripathi, Shiv Kumar Vaid, Makhan Lal Tripathi & Hans Raj Sagotra as Advisors.
Chuni Lal Mathur & Dwarka Nath are Organisers; Suram Chand Mistri, Subash Chander Malli, Jagdev Singh & Shiv Ram are Secretaries and Krishan Lal Sanmotra is cashier.
On the occasion, food items, blankets & tools were also provided among widows, specially abled and needful people. These items were managed by Ramnagar Unit of the Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Distt President Mahadeep Singh Jamwal said that the senior citizens, especially those retired from Govt services must come forward to dispense their experience of their long service for the common benefit of the society rather than to confine themselves to the fourwalls of their home.
Shiv Dev Singh, President Senior Citizens Club Ramnagar, appealed the senior citizens and depressed class to contact the Club at their respective locations for the redressal of their common problems. Their issues will be taken up with local administration for prompt solution, he added.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Des Raj Prasher, Satpaul Sharma, Bodh Raj Sharma, Sagar Dev Singh, Thakur Dass Simthial, Mohan Singh, Ram Saroop, Capt Koushal Kumar and Dr Rashpal Singh.
