KISHTWAR, Feb 4: A delegation of Senior Citizens Council district Kishtwar led by its chairman K Ahmed Dev and its president, Roshan Lal Parihar called on Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma and discussed various issues concerning public with him.
As per release, the delegation expressed concern over the unscheduled distribution of PHE water supply in the Kishtwar and also showed serious concern over leakages in supply pipes. It also brought the problems being faced by the people due to unscheduled power curtailments due to which entire area is plunged into darkness during night hours.
It demanded that proper allotment of slots be made to vegetable vendors and shopkeepers be asked not to occupy the footpaths as it creates a public nuisance and pedestrians face problem in walking on footpaths, besides the parking of vehicles on footpaths be restricted.
The delegation demanded that the recruitment policy in the Pakal Dul Hydro Project should be transparent and honest besides those families be given preference whose land has been occupied by the project and a criteria should be fixed for selection process. Moreover, a proper provision be created for senior citizens for their check up in the Hospital. The check on the market prices be maintained and the black marketers as well as those shopkeepers charging extra money be dealt under law.
The delegation also demanded that an awareness campaign be started about the various Central Government schemes launched for the welfare of the people by the concerned departments as in Kishtwar the people are not aware of these schemes. The Deputy Commissioner assured early redressal of the demands.
N Sharma, Bansi Lal Parihar, Ghulam Qadir Malik, Sagar Chand and Sewa Ram were the other members of the delegation.
