JAMMU, June 9: Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens (AWSC) arranged a visit of senior citizens to the state of the art Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Hospital (SMCDNH) at Kakaryal Katra.
This visit was arranged by AWSC in view of the keen interest shown by senior citizens to have first-hand knowledge of the medical facilities available especially for the senior citizens.
A team of 38 senior citizens was taken around elegant, neat, clean and well maintained departments of the Hospital including general wards, special wards, private and semi-private accommodation, operation Theaters etc by the Administration Officer who introduced the members to some of the specialists. During the course of interaction with the Chief Administration Officer the AWDC members proposed some additional facilities to be provided to the patients in general and the senior citizens in particular.
They suggested that special pathological tests package may be designed for the senior citizens, some percentage of discount may be allowed on medicines being purchased by patients especially by senior citizens from their shop, suitable stay arrangements may be made for the attendants of the patients within the hospital premises and transport (to and fro) may be provided for the patients visiting the Hospital.
They also suggested that wider publicity through electronic, print and radio should be given for general public about facilities available in this hospital.
The suggestions put forth by the members were well taken and an assurance was given by the CAO that he shall look into these shortly.
