Srinagar, May 29: Senior citizens in the State have said that they will mobolise people against the present Government as “it has failed” to address their demands.Chief spokesman of Senior Citizens Civil Society Nissar Ali Mir said that the Government has not bothered to take up the issues of 12 lakh senior citizens in the State and their fate has been thrown to wolves.
“We are angry with the present Government for not addressing our grievances. We will be mobilize all the 12 lakh senior citizens to teach a befitting lesson to the present Coalition Government in the coming Assembly elections,” Mir said.
He said that besides senior citizens, Pensioners’ Welfare Association will also support them in their protests.
He said the Government has failed to implement the Senior Citizen Act which has been passed in the whole of India and as such they are being denied its benefits.
Mir said the Government has also forgot 2.5 lakh pensioners in the State and has miserably failed to address their demands, including two installments of the 6th Pay Commission, release of 10 percent DA from January 2014 among others.
“Massive conferences, protests will take place across the State against the Government. The present ruling class is a dead system, and is bound to be dead in near future after the coming Assembly elections. We will bring the Government down from mighty height,” Mir said.
