JAMMU, Mar 27: The role of senior citizens in every sphere of the society is very important and they should share the experiences of their life with the younger generations and contribute in making India a developed nation, the Viksit Bharat, as envisioned by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
This was stated by JD Singh, convener, Jammu and Kashmir BJP Senior Citizens Cell, while discussing the good governance of Modi Government, with a group of senior functionaries of the party in a meeting on Wednesday.
JD Singh said that senior citizens have seen very minutely the programmes and policies of different political parties, which ruled at the Centre and in the erstwhile State of J&K. For most of the time after independence, it was the Congress, which was in power at the Centre for decades together and similarly the NC and PDP, besides Congress, ruled in J&K for maximum period but the people were discriminated, deprived of genuine rights as the regional parties also promoted dynastic rule.
JD Singh further said that the senior citizens have well seen the plight of the West Pakistan refugees, the daughters of the soil, the Valmiki Samaj, the STs and other sections and should take pledge to teach such parties a lesson which played politics of appeasement and false sloganeering. It is the BJP-led NDA Government under the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, which has presented a real model of good governance during the last about ten years and wiped the tears of the suffering people across the UT, he added.
