Senior citizens show grave concern over increasing drug menace

KISHTWAR, June 16: Senior Citizens Council District Kishtwar held a meeting with DIG Udhampur, Doda Range, Udhay Shanker and SSP, Kisthwar, Shafqat Hussian.
Besides the senior citizens the representatives of local religious and social organizations were also present. The DIG who chaired the meeting listened the issues raised by the people.
The senior citizens suggested that the police should ask people to follow COVID guidelines strictly till Pandemic threat is over. They also demanded action against those who violate COVID norms and put their and fellow citizens lives to risk. The meeting demanded that people tested positive for COVID be shifted to hospitals immediately and there should be no wait till their oxygen level decreases.
The senior citizens demanded free education to children who lost their parents in COVID and also showed grave concern over increasing drug menace which is spoiling the future of youth. They demanded strict action against the drug peddlers.
DIG in his address highlighted the important role of civil society in a democratic society. He sought coordination of all regarding reformation of society by eradicating all social evils including drug menace.
The members of Senior Citizens were led by its president Roshan Lal Parihar. Others who were present included Mohamed Iqbal Sheikh, Nirjana Sharma, Bansi Lal Parihar etc.
