JAMMU, Aug 28: Senior Congress leader Romesh Singh along with his supporters here today joined BJP.
Singh said that he was impressed by Government’s decision to scrap J&K special status and PM Modi’s slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.
A handout stated that Romesh Singh was District General Secretary of Congress of Jammu Rural and was affiliated with the party for over two decades.
He also unsuccessfully contested the Municipal election from Ward No. 67.
The new entrants were welcomed into the party folds by former Minister Bali Bhagat who said that nation has scaled new heights of development and seen the welfare of all sections of society in the last five years.
He also said that PM Narendra Modi and BJP have won hearts of people in the country.
Bhagat slammed Congress for playing with the cause of Jammu region and ignoring it completely to appease a particular section of people in the valley.
He further added that Congress supported anti-national parties to please a particular section of society and worked against the cause of Jammu on the directions of National Conference and People’s Democratic Party.
Prominent among those who joined BJP were Ex- Block Congress President, Narinder Singh, Pardeep Singh, Bansi Lal Hans, Ram Pal Bhagat, Surinder Kumar, Om Parkash, Subedar Sat Pal, Vijay Kumar, Ranjeet Chib, Bhanu Partap, Janak Raj, Anil Kumar and Shamsher Manhas.
