JAMMU, July 15: To review the party preparations ahead of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP National General Secretary and Incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Tarun Chug today chaired a meeting of the key BJP functionaries at Jammu and held a marathon discussion over a range of issues.
Besides BJP Co-Incharge Ashish Sood, the meeting was attended by J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina, general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, key office bearers of the party and senior leaders.
During the meeting, the senior BJP leaders and party functionaries presented their view point on a range of issues, particularly the organizational affairs in Jammu Kashmir and preparations of the party up to booth level.
While addressing the meeting, Tarun Chug stressed the party leaders to leave no stone unturned for further strengthening the party and effectively highlighting the achievements of Modi Government in the last nine years.
Ashok Koul presented a detailed review with regard to constituency and booth level preparations of the party in Jammu region.
According to the sources, some BJP leaders expressed their concern over non-redressal of general public issues because of alleged bureaucratic apathy thus triggering resentment among people. They alleged that non-cooperation by the administration was adversely affecting the image of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Some former Ministers suggested that their good works and achievements during the period of 2015 to 18 in Jammu region, such as setting up of AIIMS, IIM and ITI should also be highlighted besides the achievement of Modi Government in the last nine years.
However, sources added, Tarun Chug rejected the suggestion by stating that such an attempt would only benefit PDP and then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as BJP was a junior partner in the coalition Government at that time.
Sources said that some senior BJP leaders also raised the issue of giving prominence to new entrants in the party and ignoring the old loyalists at the cost of ‘outsiders’.
The meeting was attended by several former Ministers, ex-Legislators and BJP senior functionaries.
