Sensational dacoity, Rs 25 lakh looted

JAMMU, July 10: In a sensational dacoity in Nanak Nagar area this morning, five robbers looted cash worth Rs 25 lakh by throwing chilly powder into the eyes of two employees of Angel Traders, Sanjay Nagar.
However, acting swiftly, police arrested two robbers within couple of hours and recovered Rs 23 lakh cash from their possession while manhunt was going on to nab their three associates.
“Two employees of Angel Traders at Sanjay Nagar namely Ashok Sharma of Akhnoor and Sunil Kant Arora of Talab Tillo after collecting cash of Rs 25 lakh from the owner Chetan Dogra went to deposit the same in J&K Bank, Nanak Nagar this morning on scooty”, said SSP Jammu Uttam Chand while talking to reporters this evening.
On their way to bank, unidentified thieves on two motorcycles intercepted their scooty near Gurudwara in Nanak Nagar area, threw chilly powder in their eyes and decamped with a bag containing Rs 25 lakh cash, the SSP added.
The employees raised hue and cry, but till then the thieves managed to run away from the spot on their motorcycles, he said.
The SSP stated that the incident was reported to police station Gandhi Nagar and a case under FIR No 136/14 under Section 382 of RPC was registered accordingly.
He further said that acting swiftly, police teams were constituted to arrest the robbers at the earliest, adding that police teams conducted series of raids and finally two robbers were apprehended by Sainik Colony police team headed by PSI Sushil Choudhary.
Uttam Chand said that the accused have been identified as Varun, son of Baldev Raj of Sanjay Nagar and Zaffar Hussain, son of Kaku Hussain of Sainik Colony.
During investigation, the accused confessed that three more persons were involved in this act of robbery. On their disclosure, police recovered Rs 23 lakh cash out of total Rs 25 lakh, he added.
Police has intensified the manhunt to nab the absconding associates of the arrested accused, the SSP stated.
