MUMBAI, Jan 25 : The BSE Sensex on Thursday tumbled down 359.64 pts to settle at 70,700.67 as profit booking by local operators.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined 101.35 pts at 21,352.60.
The NSE registered days high and low at 21,482.35 and 21,137.20 pts respectively.
The Sensex remained under pressure today, as it opened at 71,022.10, fell 38 pts. It was dropped 741 pts at 70,319.04, days low, before closing at 70,700.67, sliding 359.64 pts from its previous close.
The stocks that dragged the market were Technology by 1.39 pc, Telecommunication by 1.21 pc, FMCG by 1.01 pc and IT by 1.23 pc.
The Mid Cap fell 0.36 pc and Small Cap by 0.42 pc.
In 30 scrips, 11 advanced while 19 declined.
The losers were Tech Mahindra by 6.12 pc to Rs 1321.60, Bharti Airtel by 2.57 pc to Rs 1159.85, ITC by 1.78 pc to Rs 455.45, Wipro by 1.68 pc to Rs 469.95 and Asian Paints by 1.67 pc to Rs 2949.55.
The gainers were NTPC by 1.84 pc to Rs 314.85, ICICI Bank by 1.07 pc to Rs 1009.90, IndusInd Bank by 1 pc to Rs 1505.45 and Reliance Industries by 0.81 pc to Rs 2710.35. (UNI)
