MUMBAI, Jan 2: The BSE Sensex on Thursday posted a massive gain of 1436.30 pts to close strong at 79,943.71 on the strength of Auto, Technology and IT stocks despite weak Asian Market.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) advanced 445.75 pts at 24,188.65.
Surging over 300 pts on Wednesday, the Sensex opened at 78,657.52, up 150 pts. It remained in green throughout the session. During the day, it was spurted 1525 pts at 80,032.87, days high
before closing at 79,943.71, advancing 1436.30 pts from its previous close.
The stocks that lifted the market were Auto by 3.66 pc, IT by 2.31 pc, Technology by 2.19 pc and Consumer Discretionary goods and services by 2.24 pc.
The Mid cap rose 0.89 pc while Small cap by 0.68 pc.
In 30 scrips, 29 advanced while 1 remained declined.
The gainers were Bajaj Finserv by 7.75 pc to Rs 1700.60, Bajaj Finance by 6.25 pc to Rs 7370, Maruti Suzuki by 5.43 pc to Rs 11830.15 and Titan by 4.42 pc to Rs 3398.
Sole, Sun Pharma slipped by 1875.
The Asian market remained negative as Hang Seng fell by 2.23 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 0.89 pc and Set Composite by 1.48 pc.
