SAMBA, Apr 25:  Describing the PDP-BJP Government as an ‘alliance of controversies’, Pradesh Congress Committee president and former Minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir today said that the two coalition partners carry along their inherent contradictions while being together for the sake of power and the separate AIIMS for Jammu is justified demand of the people here.
Addressing party convention at Samba town today, Mir said that the two parties secured the mandate of the people by exploiting them on regional and religious lines with the promise of keeping each other out of power, but betrayed the mandate for the lust of power. He said that both BJP and PDP played regional cards and polarized the polity of the State to keep the people in dark about their pre-poll strategy and later compromise the interests of the people for power.
PCC chief said  yesterday’s complete and voluntary ‘Jammu  shutdown’ reflected the anguish of the people for the double standards of the BJP. He said that Congress ensured equitable development of three regions during its regime in the State and at the Centre and the setting up of two Central Universities one each for Kashmir and Jammu for the land mark example of the approach of the Congress party. He said that a separate AIIMS for Jammu is a justified demand, in view of the topography and other peculiar situation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reminding the people about the issues  raised by the BJP leadership during elections,  Mir said that the falsehood and deceptive politics of BJP is exposed all over the country as well as in the State. He referred to the promise of bringing back of black money and benefiting each citizen to the tune of over Rs 15 lakhs,  besides grant of citizenship rights to West Pak  refugees, Abrogation of Article 370 besides similar false promises, but it failed to deliver on any of the issues betraying the people.
Addressing the gathering  former Minister  Sham Lal Sharma lashed out at BJP for its total surrender over the issues of  Jammu region, which reflects the greed of the BJP leaders for power. He said that BJP played politics for more than six decades over the philosophy of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee and exploited the sentiments of the people over abrogation of Article 370, besides removing disparity with Jammu region. He said that having equal strength to PDP in the Legislature Assembly, the BJP surrendered the post of Chief Ministership for full six years term and failed to even secure half of the share in the Cabinet. What can be expected from such weak kneed BJP high command which compromised every thing including AIIMS for  enjoying power at the cost their so called ideology and issues of people.  He took a dig at DyCM  Nirmal Singh for his reaction over the issue of AIIMS and said that he has shown disrespect and insult to the people of Jammu region. He said that having announced AIIMS on February 28, the criminal silence of BJP is highly shameful.
Former Minister Raman Bhalla severely criticized the PDP-BJP coalition for its  anti- people policies especially the new recruitment policy based on adhocism. He said that there is unrest amongst unemployed youth and other daily rated workers as well as employees for the wrong polices of present dispensation. He said that people of Jammu region would seek answer from the power hungry BJP which only exploited the people on false slogans.
Mir was accompanied by several senior leaders of the party including  CLP leader Nawang Rogzin Jora,  DCC president Samba Prakash Sharma, Ravinder Sharma,  Manjit Singh,  Swarn Lata, BS Sambyal, Indu Pawar, Namrata Sharma, Pranav Shagotra, Subash Bhagat, Sanjeev Sharma, Nadeem Sharief Niaz, Arun Sharma, Ch Bashir Ahmed, Kulbir Singh and Vinod Kumar.
