JAMMU, June 28: Religion and manly created boundaries can’t stop the family friends from re-union and this has come true in case of Tandon family of Bakshi Nagar and their Awans living in Pak occupied Kashmir whose re-union became possible even after the 63 years of division of J&K State in 1947.
The two Tondon brothers Basti Ram and Subash Tandon had migrated to Jammu from Hattian Dupata in Muzafarabad after the Pak invaders attacked it in 1947 along with their family members. However their two cousins Kanshi Nath and Mohan Lal could not migrate and later converted to Islam. The family had many Muslim friends in the area also including the Awans.
The two Tandon brothers after the opening of LOC in 2005 visited Muzaffarabad on October 6, 2005 but Basti Ram died while Subash Tandon was injured when the quake hit the PoK and some parts of J&K on October 8. Suabash Tandon had to cut short his visit and he returned to India along with the dead body of his brother after 14 days. So he could not meet his family friends Mohammed Yousf Awan and Mohammed Hussian Awan of forties.
The Awans after coming to know of the visit of Tandons were shocked at the demise of one of them in quake and so they decided to visit Jammu to see their old friend and also express their shock over the demise of Basti Ram in quake.
The Awan brothers visited the residence of Tandons at Bakshi Nagar and shared their past moments with Subash Tandon. They while expressing their happiness over the opening of LoC also appealed the two governments that the process of visit be simplified and permission for travel to people of J&K and PoK be granted by respective DCs and SPs on the basis of I Cards in future so that the travel becomes more easy and hassle free.
Subash Tandon while sharing joyful past moments with Awans said that it was a re-union after 63 long years.
