Separatists call for protests

Srinagar, Aug 23: Separatists today announced multiple protests starting from Friday this week and a strike on August 29 when Supreme Court will be hearing PIL on Article 35-A.
Top separatist leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, in a joint statement, warned of agitation if “Supreme Court rules against Article 35-A”.The separatists called for a shutdown in State on August 29 when the Apex Court will hear the case.
Besides, the separatists said that Kashmir Bar Association will hold peaceful protest demonstration on August 25 against “conspiracies to finish State Subject law”. They said Civil Society, trade bodies, religious and social organizations will organize protests on August 26, adding that Kashmiri Diaspora living across the globe in UK, USA, Europe, Middle East and Pakistan and Pakistan part of Kashmir will organize protests on August 27.
“On August 28, Kashmiris living across globe will register their protest on social media by signing a petition in this connection. Students across Kashmir will also hold protests on the same day,” the separatists said, adding that on August 29 when Supreme Court is hearing this case, “a complete and comprehensive protest strike will be observed throughout J&K”. “If Supreme Court issues any adverse orders in this regard a complete agitation will start from that very moment,” they warned.
