POONCH, Aug 25: Residents of Seri Khawaja Panchayat in Poonch staged protest for dilapidated condition of Seri Khawaja to Bani road.
Locals raised slogans against PWD (R&B) department for not completing this road despite disbursement of funds.
Alleging the corruption in construction work, they said that a tender of Rs 72 lakh was floated for this road in 2021, but it doesn’t seems that even Rs 5 lakhs have been spent on work here.
“We approached several elected representatives and concerned department as well but no one is serious to redress our problem,” they added.
Junior engineer Mukhtar Ahmed when contacted said that tender of Rs 15 lakh for macadamization of 800 meter road has already been alloted to contractor who had done the surfacing work, though macadamization work was not started because of continuous rainfall.
“Another tender of about Rs 18 lakhs has also been alloted for walling, cross drainage and shingle work from 800 meters onwards, the work of which will get started soon,” he added.
