JAMMU, June 16: Dogra College of Education, in collaboration with District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Samba, successfully organized a series of extension lectures on June 15, 2023.
The event focused on two significant topics: “Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) as per NEP 2020” and “Foundational Literacy and Numeracy: An urgent and necessary prerequisite to learning.”
The lectures were held at the Conference Hall of Dogra Educational Trust and saw the enthusiastic participation of 80 B.Ed. students from the 2nd and 4th semesters.
The program began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, graced by esteemed dignitaries. Vintee Kumari, a lecturer at Dogra College of Education, delivered the welcome address. The resource persons for the lectures were Vandana Gupta, Senior Lecturer from DIET, Samba, and Sarita Sharma, Lecturer from DIET, Samba.
In the first session, Vandana Gupta presented a comprehensive lecture on “Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) as per NEP 2020.” She provided an in-depth explanation of the 5+3+3+4 education pattern outlined in the National Education Policy, 2020. Gupta emphasized the five main pillars of NEP 2020, namely Enhancement of capacity, Accessibility, Quality, Fairness, and Accountability.
Sarita Sharma, in the second session, spoke about “Foundational Literacy and Numeracy” as an urgent prerequisite for learning, according to NEP 2020. She highlighted the significance of acquiring basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills for future schooling and lifelong learning. Sharma also discussed the various domains of a child’s development, including social, emotional, intellectual, cognitive, physical and motor, as well as speech and language skills.
Dr Shefali Sharma, the IQAC Coordinator at Dogra College of Education, expressed appreciation for the valuable insights shared by the resource persons. She emphasized the importance of such extension lectures in facilitating the exchange of information, ideas, and experiences.
Concluding the event, Shivali Mehta, a Lecturer at Dogra College of Education, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to the esteemed resource persons for their effective delivery of the extension lectures.
