‘Cong, NC did not allow democracy to flourish at grass root level’

JAMMU, Sept 30: Reiterating that party is committed to fulfil the dream of former JanaSangh president, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadayay, to serve the last man in the last queue, State Bharatiyan Janata Party (BJP) today said it will leave no stone unturned in taking public welfare schemes of Narendra Modi Government to every nook and corner.
Releasing the party manifesto for Municipal elections here, today, former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta said that all peoples problems in the municipal limits will be solved if BJP gets full mandate in the elections.
Making a scathing attack on opposition parties who ruled the State for 70 long years, Gupta said it is unfortunate that they did not allow to strengthen democratic institutions at grass root level by holding elections to Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). He said while 13 times elections for these institutions were held in rest of the country it is unfortunate that in J&K elections to local bodies were held only three times in last 70 years.
He said BJP is committed to serve the masses and improve the sanitation conditions in the City. In this regard the solid waste management which was started by him in 2005 as Mayor, JMC will be completed and door to door solid waste management programme will be started in Jammu City.
Kavinder Gupta released the Election Manifesto along with former State president & MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma (CA), MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, State Vice-President BJP, Arum Gupta and State spokesperson Brig (red). Anil Gupta. Besides, BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, party media incharge, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Kuldeep Mahotra, Hunar Gupta and Vinay Gupta were also present on the occasion.
There is massive response of the people towards BJP and the party would register overwhelming victory in all the ULBs, said BJP leaders.
They said that the party would look into streamlining proper sanitation and garbage handling, thus promoting the concept of Smart Cities, would give topmost priority to the urgent requirement of maintaining lanes and drains properly, ensure proper street lightening across the ward, including strategic lighting wherever required and streamline the requirement of taking precautionary steps for tackling mosquito menace and controlling dangerous situations like dengue & malaria etc.
The manifesto said that the BJP fully understands and respects the urgent requirement to have Recreational Club in every ward for senior citizens. It would give enough emphasis for constructing of Community Halls across the urban areas so that social and cultural requirement of citizens is met, to propagate the new concept of developing urban living suitable for modern needs, thus beautifying and developing cities in the municipal areas.
The BJP would provide suitable employment by easing license system needed for small business, work for making building permission for commercial and residential areas hassle free, by simplifying the procedures required, work extensively to convert all Centre sponsored projects into reality for the benefit of citizens, the manifesto added.
It further said that the BJP would work for promoting health facilities in the wards like evening clinics, for the citizens. It would promote the concept of having toilets in the wards thus further boosting the Open Defecation Free (ODF) mission.
