JAMMU, Jan 1: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has said that Jammu and Kashmir Police would explore new areas to improve functioning of police in the State. He said that efficient strategy needs to be formulated to meet bigger challenges during the days to come.
Mr. Rajendra was interacting with the Inspectors General of Police, Range Deputy Inspectors General of Police and District Superintendents of Police of the State. He asked officers to ponder over the successes achieved by the department in different areas of policing besides removing short comings observed in extending good services to the people.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievements of 2015, the DGP said that the force had to meet a daunting and gigantic task of maintaining peace and security which the force met with grit, fortitude and distinction. He complemented all ranks of JKP for their performance exhibited during the year gone by, stressing on professional policing.
Mr. Rajendra emphasized upon the officers to set new goals of public service for the year 2016, with special thrust on making the society drug and crime free. He called for promoting better police public relations by improving their behaviour at grass root level and responding to problems of public quickly. He said that better deliverance in extending solace to the needy is must to reinforce positive image of police among the masses.
DGP asked for improvements on administrative levels also, saying that regular interactions with the subordinates, formal inspections of police stations, frequent crime meetings are some of the steps that would help in making the system more effective. Accou-ntability and supervision in disposal of crime cases need to be given proper emphasis to bring further improvement in the working, the DGP added.
Mr. Rajendra said that traffic management has also been receiving top focus and with active coordination with other stakeholders; traffic police is doing its best to ensure efficient traffic management as it involves life and safety of the citizens.

Mohanti, IGPs, AK Choudhary, HK Lohia, MS Salaria, MA Khan, Danish Rana, SL Sharma, MA Ganai and Viplav Kumar, Dir.Prosecution, Pawan Gupta, AIGPs, Dr. M. Hissab Mughgal, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Tahir Sajad, Kulblir Singh and Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, Sr. ADO, BA Shah, X-En, PCD, Rashid Mustafa, CAO, Omar Khan and other police officers.
