In a press conference here Harjinder Singh Raina, former president SAD (B) said that today on July 11, 2020 District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees and J&K Gurdwara Parbandhak Board completed full tenure. Those elected to these bodies cease to exist the members of these committees.
In case of Gurdwara Prabhandak Board, its tenure expired in the year 2015 but the so called `Chairman’ is claiming chairmanship illegally and has hijacked the DGPC Jammu since its existence.
As on today’s circumstances arisen due to COVID 19, the Govt could not notify the DGPC’s election and the existing committee of Jammu is running pillar to post for its extension by all means. It is a matter of shame that committee before completing its tenure has approached Court seeking stay for its extension and `Guru ke Golak’ is being used for personal gains. As for as DGPC Jammu is concerned, the committee is already facing serious allegations of misappropriation of funds, mismanagement and its arbitrarily decisions.
Moreover, the existing committee of DGPC Jammu has lost its credibility and trust of whole Sikh community and also it has removed general secretary and cashier by no confidence motion due to misappropriation of funds and again shakes hands for extension of existing committee.
It is astonished that how the existing Committee managed recommendation letter for Lt. Governor for its extension from SGPC Amritsar’s president Govind Singh Longowal for extension of committee. SGPC president should have not made such recommendations without knowing the ground realties and functioning of DGPC Jammu, which is facing serious allegations of misappropriation of funds and mismanagement, without the consent ofSikh sangat.
He urged upon the Govt to constitute Adhoc Committees for smooth functioning of Gurdwaras affairs by nominating religious minded and experienced members from Sikh community.
He also appealed the Lt Governor for amendment of Gurdwara Act on the pattern of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act as the JKUT has amended all the Acts after formation of UT.
Gurmeet Singh, Swarn Singh, Upkar Singh, Jagpal Singh and Harmeet Singh also accompanied.
