JAMMU, July 10: Former minister Thakur Randhir Singh and National president Aromatic Plants Growers Association of India (APGAI) said that setting up dry port at Forlain in Ghati area of Kathua is the right choice and the Government must focus on it.
In a press statement here today, ther veteran leader said though proceedings for acquisition of private land was started by Kathua district administration, yet the exercise has not reached the logical conclusion till date and during the past many months there is absolutely no focus on setting up of Dry Port through SIDCO at village Forlan in Ghatti area of Kathua district which is a right place where 1230 kanals land was identified but now the Government is planning to use dry port which is coming up in Samba district in private sector ignoring a available Govt and private land at Patwar Forlan.
Singh said this is a right place where a big industrial hub has been set up by acquiring thousand acres of land on the National Highway as this place was visited by Lt Governor, his advisor K K Sharma and DC Kathua with Revenue team many times and owners have also consented to give their land as approached by the revenue people. It is sad that inspite of PM Modi’s directive to set up BPO unit in each district, this was the right place just 2 km from National Highway.
He also condemned the cowardly killing of Sheikh Wasim Bari, senior BJP leader and two of his family members in Bandipore. Singh said few days back terrorist killed Sarpanch Ajay Pandita.
