JAMMU, Oct 9: NSS Unit of Government SPMR College of Commerce in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages inaugurated seven-day theatre workshop for students under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The program began with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries and Principal of the college. Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “in our continuous effort to promote theatre activities among the youth, the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages is organizing a 7-day theatre workshop. The target audience for this workshop is students in the age group of 19 to 23 years. The workshop is designed to accommodate up to 20 students and each participant will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the programme”.
Academy will be inviting seasoned theatre experts from outside and the experts of their own institution to lead the workshop and impart valuable knowledge in the field of theatre arts. Principal Dr Surinder Kumar formally applauded the efforts of the NSS Program Officers and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for providing such kind of platform to the students.
He elaborated that the theatre workshop will not only enhance the artistic abilities of the participating students but also foster a sense of creativity and teamwork among them.
About 20 interested students from the college will be participating in the workshop. The proceedings of the program were conducted by Prof Deepshikha Sharma and Prof Apfan Ali, NSS POs of the college. Other faculty members present on the occasion were Prof Savita Jamwal, Dr Monika Malhotra, Dr Sarabjeet Kour, Dr Jagmeet Kour, Dr Roomi Rani, Prof Rajni Bala and Dr Fayza.
