Seven drug peddlers arrested with contraband

JAMMU, June 16: Police arrested seven drug peddlers along with contraband.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Banihal laid a naka at T Chowk and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AK-5067.
During checking, police team recovered 640 grams cannabis from the possession of two persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Younas, son of Abdul Salam Sheikh and Shabir Ahmad (driver), son of Feroz Din Gujar, both residents of District Ramban.
During the preliminary questioning, both the accused have confessed that they were illegally smuggling the contraband substance towards Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 124/2021 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Rehambal led by SHO Inspector Nishant Gupta and assisted by Incharge Police Post Tikri Inspector Jaswinder Singh laid a naka and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14G-5629.
During checking, police team recovered 6.5 grams heroin from the possession of two persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Rajesh Kumar alias Kali, son of Ashok Kumar and Rajesh Verma, son of Gopal Dass, both residents of Ward Number 17, Omara, District Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 124/2021 under Section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and investigation initiated.
However, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania arrested two drug peddlers along with 3.5 grams of heroin.
The arrested persons were identified as Sunny, son of Ram Singh of Narwal and Ritik, son of Pal Singh of Narwal.
A case under FIR Number 225/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SDPO East Bikram Kumar.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Gangyal led by SHO Raghubir Choudhary laid a naka and arrested two persons along with 13.600 kilograms of poppy straw.
The arrested persons were identified as Darshan Kumar, son of Chuni Lal of Janipur and Balbir Kumar, son of Girdhari Lal of Nanak Nagar. A vehicle in which they were travelling was also seized.
A case under FIR Number 101/2021 under Section 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SDPO South PK Mengi.
