JAMMU, Oct 19: With seven more people today testing positive for Dengue virus the total number of patients affected with this vector-borne disease in Jammu region has reached to 97.
According Dr BS Pathania, Director, Health Services Jammu, a total of 24 tests were conducted today for Dengue out of which seven turned out to be positive.
He said that out of the seven infected persons six are adults (4 males and 2 females) and one child (male).
Giving more details, Dr Pathania said that till today the department conducted 555 tests for Dengue out of which 97 were found to be positive for Dengue virus. He said that among the 97 infected persons, 55 belonged to Jammu, 21 from Kathua, seven from Samba, four from Reasi, three belonged to Udhampur, two each to Rajouri and Doda and one each from Ramban, Kishtwar and Poonch districts.
“However, none among the infected patients was found to be critical”, he said adding majority of them were sent to their respective homes after successful treatment and only few of them are under treatment at separate hospitals.
Dr Pathania advised the people not to store water in open utensils and allow stagnation of water in their surroundings, as stagnant water is a breeding ground for Dengue mosquitoes. He also advised the people to prevent themselves from mosquito bites.
