Seven gamblers held

JAMMU, May 1: At least seven gamblers were arrested with an amount of Rs 57370 as stake money here, officials said.
They said a team of Police Post Sarwal during patrolling duty received information about some persons indulging in gamble in a room opposite Boys Higher Secondary School Sarwal.
On receipt of the information, a team of Police Post Sarwal led by SDPO West, Vikram Singh assisted by SHO Bakshi Nagar, Inspector Rakesh Sharma and incharge Police Post Sarwal, PSI Baljeet Singh Parihar, raided the area and caught seven gamblers along with Rs 57370 as the stake money and one deck of playing cards, officials said.
Police have identified the accused as Sham Lal of Kanak Mandi, Jammu, Raju of Parkhoo, Jammu, Rahul Verma of Parkhoo, Jammu, Rakesh Kumar of Pakki Dhakki near Radhe Krishna Temple, Jammu, Shubham of Jain Bazar, Jammu, Arun Kumar of Lakhdatta Bazar Jammu, and Sahul Kumar of Sarwal, Jammu.
The accused have been booked in case under section 13 of the Gambling Act registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and further investigation taken up.
