Seven injured as taxi plunges into gorge

RAMBAN, May 19: Seven persons were injured today when a private taxi they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge here on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
“The incident took place when the vehicle was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu. It rolled down a 30-feet gorge near Nashri area injuring seven persons”, a police spokesman said.
He said that soon after the mishap the driver of the vehicle fled from the spot.
“All the seven injured were rescued by the police with the help of local people and admitted to hospital while a case in this connection was registered at concerned police station and further investigations were on”, he added.
