JAMMU, Mar 24: At least seven vehicles were seized for illegal mining in Jammu District today, police said.
Two dumps of mining material were also seized by the police.
A police spokesperson said that two vehicles were seized for illegal mining by Police Station Gharota, one tipper by Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, another by Police Post Sidhra, one tractor trolley by Police Post Phallain Mandal, another by Police Post Jourian, and one tractor trolley by Police Post Pargwal.
The recoveries were made by SHO Gharota, Inspector Joginder Singh Chib; SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Inspector Sikandar Singh; Incharge Police Post Sidhra, PSI Arun Kumar; Incharge Police Post Phallain Mandal, PSI Ajesh Singh Jamwal; Incharge Police Post Jourian, PSI Karnail Singh, and Incharge Police Post Pargwal, PSI Deep Kumar in their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, a team of Police Post Pargwal raided a suspected location in their area and seized two dumps of the mining material.
“The vehicles seized were mining in violation of a High Court order,” said the police spokesperson, adding that DMO has also been informed about the recoveries.
