LEH, Oct 19: Separate delegations called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra, at the LG Secretariat today.
A delegation of representatives from Rangdum Gonpa Cultural and Welfare Society, led by Head Lama Ven Tsering Tundup and Tsering Tashi, urged the LG to include Rangdum in the newly announced Zanskar district, citing cultural and geographical ties.
The delegation emphasized Rangdum’s historical connection with Zanskar, referencing Dosgom near the Parkachik Glacier as a historical boundary.
They also expressed gratitude for key development projects, including an irrigation canal, the Kochik Power Grid Sub-Station, and the Rangdum-Kanji road.
In response, the LG inquired about historical records on grazing lands between Rangdum and Parkachik.
He assured that the New District Committee would review their request and that they would have representation on the committee.
In a separate meeting with the LG, a delegation of Government job aspirants, Phuntsog Targyas and Sonam Yangdol, requested age relaxation for the Sub-Inspector post in Ladakh Police.
They also urged faster recruitment for posts through the Ladakh Subordinate Services Staff Selection Board and requested the notification of the syllabus.
Additionally, they sought an exemption for the Junior Statistical Assistant post, lowering the qualification requirement from post-graduate to graduate level.
The LG, after consulting DGP Ladakh Police, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, assured that age relaxation would be granted for the SI post and promised to address the other concerns raised by the delegates.
