JAMMU, Dec 28: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said that his administration has worked sincerely for the Kashmiri Pandits and they have been given jobs and houses in the Valley while their long-time demand for promotion has already been addressed.
In an interview to Zee News today, Sinha said his only one line in the press conference (addressed recently by him) was highlighted.
“Three thousand jobs and an equal number of houses have been given to the Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley in the first phase. Our administration has been sincerely working for providing them rest of the jobs and houses. But everything can’t be done in 10 days,” he said.
Sinha said it’s true that Kashmiri Pandits or migrants became the victims. Life has no compensation. But we have addressed their issues of promotions. We are trying to construct houses for them at the earliest in the Valley. Fool-proof security measures are also in place, he added.
Asserting that unemployment and militancy have no relations, Sinha said unemployment is more in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
He said situation has improved considerably in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370.
Replying to a question on investments, the Lieutenant Governor said groundbreaking ceremony of Rs 30080 crore worth investments was performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Jammu on April 24.
“We are expecting investments worth Rs 60,000 crore to Rs 65,000 crore,” Sinha said.
Responding to a question, he said he can say with full responsibility that political activities in Jammu and Kashmir are going on freely. None has stopped politicians from holding political programmes, rallies and meetings. There are no restrictions of any kind. Also no political worker is under house arrest, he added.
On Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, he said COVID situation will be assessed and if everything is alright, it will take place.
On situation prevailing along the Line of Control (LoC), Sinha said the Prime Minister, Defence Minister and senior Defence officials have given statements. However, he said, the borders of Jammu and Kashmir are fully secure and jawans are on high alert.
Without naming PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, the Lieutenant Governor said a good house was offered to her (in place of the withdrawn Government accommodation).
An offer was given to her and it was up to her to accept or not, he said, adding there is a Government which decided Government accommodation based on security and threat perception. Moreover, there is also a court order in this regard.
On new Land Laws, Sinha said the costliest Government land had been given at throw away prices. Anyone can take the land in auction, he added.
On G20 meeting, Sinha said there has been no security threat as two crore visitors came to the Union Territory. Nearly 3.86 lakh Shri Amarnath yatris performed darshan. Infiltration is down and number of active militants has come down to double digit.
“As many as 172 militants, 42 of them foreigners, have been killed this year. There has been no hartal. Schools functioned for 200 days. Even people are fed up with old system and want to work,” he asserted.
Without naming Pakistan, Sinha described narco terrorism as conspiracy and said the Government of India as well as Jammu and Kashmir administration are working seriously to tackle the menace.
“The Union Home Minister has also held series of meetings on this,” he said.
