MENDHAR, Sept 6: Several villages in Mendhar Sub Division of district Poonch are facing acute shortage of water for the last many months.
Reports received from various areas of Balakote, Mankote, Sangiot, Pathanateer Kalaban, Bolani, Bhurati, Mohra Kallar, Upper Gohlad, Dhargloon, Simkan, Salani, Uchhad, Bhera, Nar, Dachal and Upper Gursai in Mendhar Sub Division said that due to leakage of PHE pipes and damage caused to motors, at some pumping stations, the water supply to the villages and about two dozen hamlets has been affected. The people from these areas are facing acute shortage of water.
The people alleged that matter was brought to the notice of the concerned field staff and also the officials at PHE Sub Division, Mendhar but no improvement in the water supply has been witnessed. They sought the intervention of DC Poonch and Chief Engineer PHE Jammu into the matter.
