Several restaurants sealed in Srinagar for violation

Srinagar, Mar 18: Violating the norms issued by the Government in order to curb the spread of coronavirus, the district administration today sealed a number of restaurants which were found open.
As per reports, a restaurant “Desert Box” in Karan Nagar Srinagar was sealed by District Administration Srinagar after found functional, including few others.
An official said despite requests of non-violating orders, a restaurant Desert Box has been found functional in Karan Nagar Srinagar and has been sealed. He further said that strict action will be taken against those found violating Government order.
He further said an order has been issued by District Administration for the closure of all institutions, restaurants, public parks, gardens, gyms etc in wake of Coronavirus scare as precautionary measures to prevent huge gathering of people in Srinagar.
In this regard, Srinagar Mayor in a tweet said that 5 restuarants have been sealed and a number of chalans have been issued.
“Going around the city personally with officials to enforce a complete closure of all restaurants and food courts. 5 restaurants sealed, challans issued and FIRs under Sec 188 solicited through JKP till now – within first 15 minutes of the drive. #Srinagar #COVID2019 #Prevention,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Mayor in another tweet during the day said that the shopping malls shall remain closed and that the SMC has sought strict enforcement on ground through Police.
“We will also take the legal recourse for violators. Supermarkets, grocery stores for essentials and groceries advised to follow strictest sterilization protocols multiple times daily,” he tweeted.
