Srinagar, July 11: Police in Budgam today said to have solved two theft cases by arresting 2 accused persons involved in the commission of the crime and have recovered stolen property on their disclosure.
Officials said that on 01-07-2021 Police Post, Humhama received a written complaint from one person namely Zafar Iqbal Rehbar, son of Late Mohammad Iqbal Rehbar resident of Housing Coloney Sanatnagar regarding the theft of readymade garments from his vehicle Wagon-R bearing registration No JK04A-2552 which was parked outside IQ Mall Hyderpora.
Accordingly, police said, a case vide FIR No. 190/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated.
“Officers taking assistance of modern techniques including analysis of CCTV footage Police was able to learn that one masked person used Maruti-800 vehicle bearing registration No JK03A-5062 for the commission of the crime,” police said.
Acting swiftly, Budgam Police traced the car from Waterihail area and raided the residential house of the car owner identified as Abdul Hameed Mir @Hameed Waza, son of Abdul Raheem Mir resident of Kumar Mohalla Rawalpora Waterihail.
“During checking, readymade garments worth lakhs of rupees have been recovered from the house of the accused person. However, the accused was evading his arrest,” police said.
Police said that after strenuous efforts the accused person was arrested today and was shifted to the Police Station where he remains in custody.
Similarly, police said, on 22-06-2021 Police Post Humhama received a written complaint from one person namely Nazir Ahmad Dar son of Mohamad Ramzan Dar resident of Wazabagh Hyderpora stating that he is working in a Gas agency as a driver & on 20-06-2021 he parked his gas cylinders laden truck outside his house at Wazabagh Hyderpora.
“On 21-06-2021 morning, he found that some gas cylinders were stolen by unknown thieves from the said truck,” police said. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 179/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated.
Officers, police said, were able to learn that one auto Rikshaw without a number plate was found roaming in suspicious conditions at the time of the incident. Officers using all available means identified the owner of the auto Rikshaw as Mukhtar Ahmad Dar son of Sajad Ahmad Dar resident of Frastabal Pampore.
“The auto driver was arrested and during sustained questioning, he confessed about his involvement in the commission of the crime,” police said.
Police said that upon his disclosure, officers were able to recover 06 gas cylinders from his residence.
Police in Bandipora today solved a theft case by arresting accused persons involved in the commission of the crime and have recovered stolen property from their possession.
Officials said that the Police Station Sumbal received a written complaint from one person namely Owais Ahmad Kanvow son of Abdul Majeed Kanvow resident of Chattabal Srinagar A/P Arampora Sumbal regarding the theft of kiryana items and cash from his shop at Arampora Sumbal during the intervening night of 8/9 July 2021.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 89/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sumbal and investigation was initiated,” police said.
It said that a special investigation team headed by SHO PS Sumbal under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal was constituted.
During the investigation, police said, officers using all available means arrested two suspect persons namely Mohd Akber rather son of Gh Mohd Rather & Suhaib Zahoor son of Zahoor Ahmad Rather both residents of Arampora Sumbal.
“During questioning both the suspected persons accepted their involvement in the commission of the crime. Subsequently, both the accused persons have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody,” police said.
On their disclosure, police said, the investigating team were able to recover stolen property including 05 Mobile Phone, 24 packets of Cigarette, Cash amount of Rs. 6867 and Iron rod etc. “Further investigation is in progress,” police said.
