This has reference to the article ‘Sex Education and Schools’ DE Nov 7, 2020.
It will take a pretty long time for the schools to impart sex education in schools.
Imparting sex education to students will need the services of well qualified, motivated and experts. Most of the schools do not have such services available yet, and it is beyond the competence of general line teachers to do this job.
Besides, the cooperation of parents is also essential in this endeavour. It will take a pretty long time in India to provide sex education in schools keeping in view the matrix of Indian society, and the rate of literacy in the country.
The policy makers have to play a vital role in integrating sex education in school syllabi, and then making arrangements for teaching it.
