JAMMU, Sept 16: State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) has decided to hold protest programme outside the Press Club, near main Tawi bridge here on September 24.
Addressing a joint press conference here today senior members of the body, Sushil Sudan, Suresh Sharma and Subash Verma declared that all the employees’ organizations/ unions associated with SGEJAC will hold protest demonstration near Press Club as the State Government has failed to honour its commitment and resolve the pending issues of the employees.
Though they welcomed the formation of Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather, yet questioned its approach in inviting just a few selected employees of their choice for the dialogue. They apprehended that employees interests are likely to be compromised by the so called JCC leaders as was done by them during September 2011 negotiations. They demanded that all the stake holders be invited for the talks.
At the same time they alleged that announcing yet another Cabinet Sub Committee by Government was yet another attempt to befool the employees. The Government was trying to buy time and there was no purpose of announcing another committee. The Government wants to kept employees engaged and was just passing time. The main issues have already been agreed upon and only implementation part was awaited. They demanded that Government should make its commitment of regularisation of daily rated and consolidated workers, remove pay anomalies, make payment of arrears, ensure budgetary support to the PSUs, release DA installment and increase medical allowance of the employees.
Meanwhile, J&K Govt Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) led by Ram Kumar, Rafiq Khanyari, Balwan Singh Jamwal, Babu Hussain, Parshotam Sharma and others took strong exception to the manipulated designs of the State Government to invite selective few employees leaders for holding negotiation on pick and choose basis with Cabinet Sub Committee tomorrow in Srinagar. They said holding dialogue, ignoring several senior trade unionists by Government was just a mockery and it will be futile exercise.
