SHA suspends empanelment of 4 hospitals

SRINAGAR, Jan 14: The State Health Agency (SHA) has suspended the empanelment of four private hospitals under AB-PMJAY and imposed a penalty on one of them for incurring out-of-pocket expenses and denying treatment to patients.
Among the hospitals facing penalty include two from Srinagar, two from Jammu, and one from Udhampur.

While four private hospitals have had their empanelment suspended, a penalty of Rs 50,000 has been imposed on a private hospital in Udhampur.
Officials said one of the Jammu based hospitals will face a six-month suspension with a penalty of Rs 10,27,500 and other only a suspension of empanelment.
In Kashmir, they said one of the hospitals faces a six-month suspension with a penalty of Rs 26,15,000 the other faces suspension for six months with a fine of Rs 2,97,000.
In a public notice issued by the SHA, the general public was informed of the suspension of these hospitals’ empanelment for non-compliance of guidelines.
“The suspensions will remain in effect for six months or until further orders. Suspended hospitals shall continue providing dialysis services under the scheme to ensure uninterrupted critical care,” the SHA stated.
Regarding the Udhampur based hospital, it was reported that based on a grievance registered against the hospital, it was found that the hospital had not provided free and cashless treatment to the aggrieved beneficiary.
“The beneficiary was made to incur an out-of-pocket expenditure of Rs 10,000,” the SHA stated.
The case, along with all relevant documents, was presented to the State Empanelment Committee (SEC) during its meeting on 26-12-2024 for deliberation and decision.
“It was decided that a penalty of Rs 50,000 would be imposed on the hospital as per Hospital Empanelment Guidelines,” the SHA added.
