Shab-e-Barat observed across Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Shab-e-Barat was observed today with religious fervor and gaiety across Kashmir, with every Masjid across Kashmir abuzz with night-long prayers.
The major congregations were held in Srinagar at Dargah Hazratbal, Jamia Masjid, Jenab Sahab Soura, Kalashpora, and all other shrines and Masjids.
Throughout the day, people were seen preparing for the night falling on the mid of the Islamic calendar month Shaban, which is then followed by the holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims fast.
On the occasion, the administration had put in all the necessary arrangements at all the major places of worship to facilitate the prayers to mark Shab-e-Barat.
Officials of the J&K Waqf Board said that they have ensured arrangements to ensure the comfort and well-being of worshippers during this sacred night.
The Isha prayer, which is the last prayer of the day, was held at 09:30 PM at Jamia Masjid, while at Dargah Hazratbal, the prayers were held around 10:00 PM, marking the presence of people in huge numbers on the occasion.
With regard to transport, adequate buses were made available from various spots in Srinagar, ferrying people to Dargah Hazratbal.
“Apart from the transport facility, other facilities have also been put in place to facilitate the stay of the people who reach here today from different parts of Kashmir,” the officials said.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
In a message, the Lt Governor said: “On this sacred occasion, I convey my greetings and best wishes to the people. May the auspicious night foster peace and harmony and inspire each one of us to follow the path of love and compassion”.
