SRINAGAR, Sept 19: The Government has sanctioned two more ambulances, one each for District Hospital, Poonch and Primary Health Center, Balakot to cater to the supplementary needs of the patients of the district.
The announcement in this regard was made today by Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan, during his extensive visit to various areas of the Poonch district, where he took stock of health care facilities besides reviewing overall health scenario in the district.
The Minister said that Balakot is the border area and always remains under the risk of shelling across the border so it needs much more emergency treatment facilities for injured persons. He said new ambulance would facilitate critically injured to get emergency treatment in major hospitals of Jammu. Responding to the demands of the people of the area, the Minister assured that adequate stock of essential drugs would be kept available in the hospital for patients.
During the inspection of District Hospital, Poonch, Shabir sanctioned one more ambulance for it and assured that CT Scan diagnostic machine has been purchased for the hospital, which would be installed soon after completion of new hospital complex. He said the construction work on Causality Block of the Hospital is apace at a cost of Rs 4.35 crore against which Rs. 2.20 crore stands incurred so far.
An allocation of Rs 50 lakh under State plan would be made during current fiscal on its construction. He said the Government is also going to release additional funds for its time bound completion under NRHM.
Later, the Minister inspected the Community Health Center, Mahndar and took stock of construction work on causality and staff quarter blocks of the hospital which are under construction at a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore.
